Student Reach is organizing its 5th Beach Cleanup, this time at the Singing Sand Dunes in Qatar. Through this event, we hope to promote sustainability, community engagement, and a shared commitment to protecting Qatar’s unique ecosystems.
Food 2 Food is our Group-wide initiative under Athar sustainability strategy, designed to reduce organic waste and promote circular resource management.
In partnership with Wahab Eco-Probe, the project collects food waste from Alfardan Hospitality properties and converts it into nutrient-rich compost for agricultural use at Wahat Al Shafalahiya and Safwa.
1) Using filtered water dispensers instead of bottled water
2) Introducing segregated recycling bins (paper, plastic, metal, organic waste)
3) Reducing paper use and single-use plastics
4) Adding indoor plants to desks/workstations
Plastic Reduction Program
In line with our environmental goals, we are reducing the use of single-use plastics throughout the property by adopting eco-friendly alternatives and rethinking our operations. Key initiatives include:
Water & Energy Conservation
At Wa’hab, we provide complete food waste recycling solutions designed for businesses committed to sustainability. We offer end-to-end services — from collecting food waste using our dedicated transportation trucks to processing it at on-site facilities equipped with automated composting machines capable of handling up to 5 tonnes per day. The output from these machines is then cured and transformed into nutrient-rich compost, which is used to grow fresh produce and support landscaping needs — closing the loop and promoting a truly circular economy.
Food Waste & Food Loss Reduction Program
Our property is committed to reducing food waste and loss through proactive measures that align with sustainability goals. The program focuses on:
As a part of Qatar Sustainability Week 2025, Baladna is organizing a series of initiatives to promote sustainable practices and environmental awareness among our employees. In line with Qatar’s vision for a greener future, we have invited BYD for an EV Display at our newly installed charging stations and trial opportunity for our staff at our premises.
The purpose of the event is to provide our staff with an opportunity to experience electric vehicles firsthand, learn about the technology, and encourage a shift towards sustainable mobility.
To celebrate Qatar Sustainability Week 2025, our company is launching a week-long Sustainable Lifestyle Bingo Challenge designed to inspire eco-conscious habits among office staff. Each participant receives a digital bingo card filled with simple, impactful sustainability actions—ranging from reducing paper use and bringing reusable items to sharing green tips and learning about sustainable freight practices.
