Seminar - ESG & Sustainable Finance

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is a space that can enhance cross-sectoral collaboration to tackle urgent social and environmental challenges. As ESG strategies are fully implemented, the public and private sectors serve to benefit from a deepening commitment to sustainability through opportunities to capitalize on ESG opportunities and an acceleration of the region’s net-zero goals. In addition, ESG is a key driver for access to a host of green financing products, and maintains the annual stringent requirements from the financial service provider.

Watsons: Empowering Sustainable Beauty

To align with Qatar's sustainability goals and promote eco-conscious beauty choices, Watsons is proud to nominate two standout brands—Rimmel Blue Range and Naturals by Watsons—as part of the Qatar Sustainability Challenge. These brands reflect our commitment to providing environmentally friendly and ethically produced products in both cosmetics and skincare categories. Here’s how they contribute to sustainability:

SHAKE SHACK PLASTIC FREE CHALLENGE

Shake Shack has been making efforts to become more environmentally conscious and a "Plastic free-challenge" could involve initiative to educate the team and train all employees on the new plastic free protocols and the importance of environmental sustainability. Encourage the team to use eco-friendly alternatives like wooden utensils, compostable takeout containers or paper plant based packaging and to bring their own cup. We continuously improved based on what best for our store and customer base.

Workshop - Energy Systems Modelling to Inform Policymaking

Energy systems models are increasingly used by governments of both developed and developing countries to generate crucial evidence underpinning their climate change policy. Different types of energy systems models exist that can be used in isolation or jointly and can support informed discussions around key policy decisions. Funded by QNRF (grant NPRP13S-0204-200250) and in partnership with Imperial College London, Kahramaa and Earthna, QEERI is developing Qatar TIMES, the country’s first full energy systems model.
