The decarbonization race is heating up in the region. Many countries within the GCC region announced commitments and pledges related to decarbonization (such as Net Zero pledges), and hence governments in the region are aiming to accelerate decarbonizations efforts under the pressure of fulfilling the requirements of these pledges and the rising concerns related to the catastrophic consequences of climate change. This is also placing a lot of pressure on corporates to react, except that efforts are often hindered with various roadblocks.

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is a space that can enhance cross-sectoral collaboration to tackle urgent social and environmental challenges. As ESG strategies are fully implemented, the public and private sectors serve to benefit from a deepening commitment to sustainability through opportunities to capitalize on ESG opportunities and an acceleration of the region’s net-zero goals. In addition, ESG is a key driver for access to a host of green financing products, and maintains the annual stringent requirements from the financial service provider.

As part of Qatar Sustainability Week, Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future, in collaboration with GHD, invites you to join us in exploring innovative approaches to water management through the development of a circular water economy. Earthna is leading efforts to reshape how we manage water in Qatar, focusing on sustainability and resource efficiency.

Energy systems models are increasingly used by governments of both developed and developing countries to generate crucial evidence underpinning their climate change policy. Different types of energy systems models exist that can be used in isolation or jointly and can support informed discussions around key policy decisions. Funded by QNRF (grant NPRP13S-0204-200250) and in partnership with Imperial College London, Kahramaa and Earthna, QEERI is developing Qatar TIMES, the country’s first full energy systems model.

Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change (QNDCC) is an event aimed at addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development. By bringing together government officials, industry leaders, environmental experts, and civil society representatives, QNDCC serves as a platform for shaping national and international climate policies, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in addressing climate challenges.  

This workshop will explore the evolving landscape of single-use PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) in Qatar, guided by Earthna's ongoing research. It aims to evaluate the current state of PET usage and investigate innovative approaches to advance a circular economy for this material. Earthna's comprehensive study focuses on analyzing the PET value chain, identifying circularity opportunities, and proposing strategies and policy recommendations to shift from a linear to a circular economy model, aligning with Qatar's sustainability goals.

Join us for an engaging lecture on hydroponics led by Ilia Sukhodolov, Director of Agronomy at VFarms, one of the leading companies in sustainable controlled environment agriculture (CEA). 

This session will introduce the basics of hydroponic systems, exploring how innovative indoor cultivation technologies are shaping the future of food production. Learn how VFarms integrates autonomous water supply systems, solar panels, and eco-friendly farming methods to support food security in remote communities and enhance climate resilience in agriculture. 

The Club will organize a special meeting to discuss the Environment and Sustainability in Qatar and ways for enhancement and improvement, this is through open invitation for the meeting and announce in the social media to allow more HSE professional to attend. 

The conference aims to bring together an elite group of experts and specialists from inside and outside Qatar to talk about the dimensions of sustainable development.
