At school, the key to teach children the importance of Environment Day is to help them realize that even at a young age they can be a part of making the Earth a healthier planet.
The first activity, germination of seeds, is considered as one of the best activities for this special day. The procedure was uploaded for the parents prior to the activity. The teacher during the online session through slides and videos also explained the process of germination to the children. The kids were very excited to know that plants come from seeds and that they would be growing their own plant. Activities like these get the little ones excited about planting more trees and saving the environment. As guided by the teacher, parents also clicked a photo of their child holding a plant and sent it to the class teacher.
The second activity was ‘Best out of Waste’. To encourage kids to become more eco- friendly and take care of their surroundings, an activity called “bird feeder” was conducted. All the materials to be used were given in the ‘Endeavor’ for children and on 6th June, all the children did the activity step by step, along with the teacher during the online class. Parents were guided to help the children to complete the activity and send a picture of the child holding their bird feeder to the class teacher on the same day.
Such activities are not only fascinating but also provide a great opportunity to understand the importance of a healthy environment. With great zeal, each child took a small step forward to protect the environment.
IF YOU CAN’T REUSE IT, REFUSE IT!
With the aim to create awareness of the need to preserve and enhance the environment, DPS Modern Indian School organized a Junk Art competition for the students of Grade III, IV and V.
Students of Grade III showcased their talent by making beautiful paintings on an old newspaper using their imagination and creativity.
The students of Grade IV students left everyone awe-struck by presenting outstandingly creative costumes that were made using recycled materials like newspaper, polythene bags, paper plates etc. in the Fancy Dress competition.
Grade V students gave the best form to their aesthetic sense and constructively expressed their ideas by making beautiful home décor items using old CDs, broken bangles, shells, plastic bottles etc.
Every day is Earth Day
Keeping in mind the importance of Earth Day, the students of Grade I & II of DPS Modern Indian School celebrated Earth Day on a virtual platform. The class teachers briefed the students about the significance of the day and shared a video highlighting the necessity of conservation of nature. It was followed by a colouring activity which made the celebration eventful and momentous. The children were reminded that we should be celebrating and showing our support for the environment every day.
