The Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Sustainability Council is arranging a panel discussion about climate change and the Arab world. Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, but since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to burning fossil fuels (like coal, oil, and gas), which produce heat-trapping gases. Being the center of oil and gas production, the Middle East makes a lot of greenhouse gases. On the other hand, there is an increased need for climate change awareness in the region, including existing initiatives and how we can make changes as individuals and as a country. This panel discussion includes esteemed members of Qatar who have played different roles in understanding and contributing to climate change awareness in the region. The speakers are from various entities, including the Doha Institute of Graduate Studies (Dr. Laurent A. Lambert), the Arab Youth Climate Movement (Mr. Neeshad Shafi), and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Dr. Rima Jamal Isaifan).
