Participants, all wearing pink, will walk along the scenic coastline. By blending awareness, health, and environmental consciousness, we aim to foster a community that advocates for both personal wellness and a sustainable future.

GWC is organizing a beach cleanup activity in collaboration with Seashore Recycling and Sustainability. The activity will commence with an engaging discussion on the impact of plastic pollution and the crucial role of preserving marine life. 

WORKSHOP - Sustainable Water Management for Water Security in Qatar

Qatar is one of the most water stressed countries in the world due to their arid climate and limited amount of resource water. The only source of freshwater in Qatar is groundwater which is currently being depleted due to over extraction. The stress levels on water are expected to increase in the future due to population increase, climate change, industrial operations, and agricultural sector growth. Qatar’s population is increasing, reaching nearly 3.0 million in 2023, a significant rise from nearly 2.0 million in 2012.

WORKSHOP - Sustainable Transport Futures: Pathways to EV and Beyond

Earthna and QEERI are hosting a workshop on sustainable road passenger transport pathways in Qatar, focusing on EVs. The workshop will gather stakeholders from Qatar's road passenger transport ecosystem, including government, industry, and academia. The workshop will foster discussion of policy drivers and barriers to the penetration of EVs in road passenger transport in Qatar, identify policy development needs and major gaps in the evidence necessary to support it. Discussion will include the economic, environmental, and behavioral dimensions of the policy problem.

WORKSHOP - Qatar TIMES: Modeling Pathways to Low Carbon Emissions

Following the update of its NDC and the publication of its National Climate Change Action Plan in 2021, the State of Qatar is scaling up climate action. Refining and expanding current plans will require extensive analysis and the use of appropriate tools. Energy systems models (ESMs) are a key tool that is increasingly used around the world by governments of developed and developing countries alike. ESMs play a pivotal role in the development of national climate change policies and sector-specific strategies for energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies.

Furniture Repairs to Extend Usability Initiative

Naufar is actively managing their assets and extending the lifespan of their furniture pool by repairing broken items or combing several damaged ones into usable ones. This reduces the need to throw away furniture or buy new ones. Naufar is communicating the message that repairing furniture and embracing sustainability is not just for Sustainability Week but an ongoing commitment for our company.

Qatar Museums' Bike Commuting Challenge

Qatar Museums (QM) is promoting a more eco-friendly approach to commuting among its employees from October 25th to November 9th, 2023. We encourage our staff to choose bicycles as their mode of transportation to the office, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions. This initiative aims to foster environmentally conscious habits in daily life while also promoting personal well-being through a healthier commuting option.

Qatar Museums (QM) is organizing a cultural tour and cleanup as part of Qatar Sustainability Week 2023. The event seeks to enhance QM staff's appreciation for the cultural heritage of Qatar by taking them on guided tours of QM's archaeological sites. During these tours, experienced guides will provide insights into the history and legacy of Qatar. Additionally, a cleanup program will be conducted, where participants will work together to collect litter from QM's archaeological sites.
