Pathways to Sustainability – Placemaking in Education City

Earthna's team of interns from Georgetown University in Qatar is running a workshop during QSW 2022 with staff and students in Education City on October 12th 2022. This workshop intends to promote cross-sector collaboration between universities, public and private sectors to capture various sector operational challenges, raise awareness and explore pathways and means of creating sustainable cities. This is most relevant in hot, arid climates, specifically Qatar, by using data as the basis for the decisions being made.

Qatar Preparatory Schools Debating League for Boys

QatarDebate holds preparatory schools debate leagues spread out through two competitions - for boys and girls. The tournament invites students from Grade 7-9 from across Qatar. This coming Saturday, October 15, we hope to see top debate teams from boys' preparatory schools across Qatar come together to discuss and debate pertinent issues in our society. As part of Earthna, we hope to include a topic on the Environment and have preparatory school students debate this important issue.

Retrofitting the built environment for a net zero carbon future

Cutting emissions from the built environment is urgently needed if we are to meet our climate goals. In the race to hit carbon reduction targets, existing buildings are the key.

For Qatar Sustainability Week 2022, Cundall will gather regional industry leaders for a panel discussion that will focus on the retrofit process and how we are going to achieve it, as well as the strategies that asset owners can adopt. Panellists will discuss how we can all play our part in increasing the value of existing assets to avoid the stranded scenario.
