In alignment with Qatar Sustainability Week's goals, Banyan Tree Doha has introduced a Vegetarian Lunch initiative every Tuesday at our staff restaurant. This program aims to promote sustainability and eco-friendly practices while highlighting the importance of healthy eating for the environment.
Launched in February 2024, the initiative encourages plant-based diets among team members, reduces the hotel’s carbon footprint by cutting down on meat consumption, and supports health and wellness through nutritious meal options. It offers substantial environmental benefits, such as a lower carbon footprint due to reduced resource usage and greenhouse gas emissions from plant-based foods, water conservation through less water-intensive diets, and waste reduction by sourcing local, seasonal ingredients. Furthermore, the initiative enhances staff health and well-being while educating them on sustainable eating practices, fostering eco-friendly habits within the team. So far, many staff members eagerly anticipate Tuesdays, and food waste in the staff restaurant has decreased compared to last year.
