The Qatar Sustainability 2023 celebration of The Next Generation School Wakra Primary & Secondary Campus is a unique opportunity to achieve the goals of developing awareness, educate and inspire the elarners to become responsible global citizen as part of our Mission and Vision. This event will bring together students, teachers, and community members to learn about the importance of sustainability and to take action to protect our planet. The event will feature a variety of activities, including:
• Educational workshops and presentations on sustainability topics such as food sustainability and security, recycling, and waste management through creative projects.
• Interactive exhibits that allow students to learn and share about sustainability in a fun and engaging way. • Hands-on projects that give students the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice.
• Guest speakers from organisations that are working to promote sustainability in Qatar. As on overall campign, the students of TNG Wakra Primary and Secondary state their pledges, stationed a recycling spot for plastic cups, bottles and papers, bring recyclable materials and integrated the activity during ECA, PE and Arts lessons.
For Key Stage 1, learners were able to focus on promoting food waste management wherein they were able to make compost, device a strategy to save food, invite parents to speak and demonstrate about how not to waste food and the importance of bringing healthy food.
For Key Stage 2, learners were able to use use the collected papers to make something new out of it through paper mache activity. They created decorations, lamps, hanging balls as chandelier.
For Key Stage 3, learners were able to create hanging pots and flower pots to recycle the plastics bottles. Overall, these project drive have opened the students to a wider range of ways on how the school to become sustainable.
