Engineers Australia Qatar Chapter together with Qatar Green Building Council and IKEA Store are hosting a 'Straw Building Competition' on Saturday 2 November 2019.

If you are Engineers Australia follower, then you know how much we love sustainable engineering challenges. So far, we have tried the wood bridges, newspaper domes and now it is time for straw towers. We are going to build engineering towers made from recycled straws, the aim of this competition is to bring awareness to single-use plastics.

This simple straw and tape tower building challenge looks like a lot of fun. It is also a great activity and opportunity for all age groups. It is an easy way to build, interact, test and advance your engineering principals and skills, network, have fun and build memories.

You are invited to the Straw Building Competition to be held at IKEA Store at Doha Festival City (DFC). It's going to be a great day with snacks and drinks provided and it is completely free. Teams will compete to construct the tallest and most sustainable tower with limited time and materials.
