Charlene Chelagat Ruto is extremely passionate about the young people. She has taken action from the bottom-up, ensuring that the youth have a voice in leadership. She has uniquely positioned herself to ensure the young people feel and are included by taking time to listen to their thoughts and ideas, help enact them and walk with them, so that they may live a wholesome life i.e. career-wise, emotionally, financially, mentally, physically and socially.
Her ‘The 30 Things’ agenda which forms the basis of all her engagements is a sweet mix of what the young people have requested her to champion and her individual focus areas.
She has developed three vehicles to effectively progress the agenda under three thematic areas: The Young People's Network International (TYPNI) is a Non-Profit Organisation for all matters, 'Youth in Action' which involves youth empowerment, mentorship, entrepreneurship, technology, and financial literacy among others.
Through her Personal Brand, 'Youth and the Society' covers young women and girls’issues, mental health action, her passion and work with the Deaf community, cyberbullying, blood donation and others. All matters in Climate Action and Agriculture such as food security, water management, climate change mitigation and adaptation and nature-based solutions are covered by SMACHS Foundation.
