The following will be carried out at our campus:
- Environmental Responsibility: Art made from sustainable materials helps reduce waste and the demand for new, non-renewable resources. By reusing, recycling, or repurposing everyday items, students can learn the importance of reducing their carbon footprint while creating meaningful artwork.
- Fostering Creativity and Innovation: Working with unconventional, sustainable materials pushes students to think outside the box. Using items like cardboard, fabric scraps, natural materials (leaves, twigs), and recycled plastics, students can create unique pieces of art that challenge traditional norms and highlight the beauty of upcycling.
- Cost-Effective: Sustainable materials are often sourced from readily available or discarded items, reducing the cost of purchasing new supplies. This makes art competitions accessible to all students, regardless of their financial background, and promotes equity in education.
- Aligning with Global Goals: The use of sustainable materials in art aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to responsible consumption, environmental conservation, and climate action. Students are given the opportunity to engage with these goals through their artistic expression.
