Dr. Amy Binner is an environmental economist specialising in natural capital, valuation, and applications to land-use based decision-making from welfare and sustainability perspectives. Her work integrates knowledge and modelling across disciplines (natural science, ecology, hydrology, forestry, economics, and data science) to support whole systems analysis. She has led work on several co-designed decision- support tools, including the Natural Environment Valuation Online tool for England and Wales, the Natural Environment Valuation modelling suite, and Woodland Valuation tools. Dr Binner is a senior lecturer at the University of Exeter where she is a co-investigator on several projects including a NERC project leading the co-development of Net Zero Carbon decision support tools for the UK and the NERC RENEW project developing interdisciplinary solutions to the renewal of biodiversity. Her research has been supported by the UK’s Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Economic and Social Research Council, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Natural Environment Research Council.
