Every year, countless electronic devices become obsolete and cause massive amounts of electronic waste. Safe disposal of discarded equipment is a growing challenge for consumers as well as governing bodies. The Environment Department at HS&E (QF) are continuously encouraging our community to choose a sustainable lifestyle and will be hosting the second annual E-waste recycling drive during the month of October 2020.
Below is a list of acceptable and non-acceptable devices for the E-waste drive:
Acceptable items
· Desktop computers, laptops and monitors, printer/copier toners, cartridges
· Mouse, keyboard and other electronic devices
· Televisions
· Scanners and printers
· Audio-video equipment
· Personal electronic devices
· Mobile phone and landline phones
· Microwaves
Non-acceptable items
· Air conditioners
· Refrigerators
· Washing machines
· Florescent lamps
The drive will take place through designated collection bins located at Education city: Multaqa, the LAS Building and Lulu Express (Housing Lot 4). E-waste bins at these locations will be available for a period of three months starting first week of October until December 2020 ( this may be extended TBA). Larger e-waste should be dropped off at the bins at Lulu express or Multaqa.
