Ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM, 28 teams made up of 300 young people from 24 countries, represented street children across the globe at the Street Child World Cup 2022 in Doha.
Thirteen girls’ teams and fifteen boys’ teams came together to participate in an international football tournament, a festival of arts and a congress to champion the rights of underserved children worldwide.
Some of Qatar's Eco-Schools hosted the teams, to show their support to street connected children and share their sustainability practices with them. The visit demonstrated the Eco-School ‘+global citizenship’ theme, and was an example of how children with environmental education are capable of leading positive climate change action.
