Former minister of Water and Environment in the Republic of Yemen (2006-2011), one of the most water-stressed countries in the world. He is now the Water and Environment Advisor in the Presidential Office. Before joining the cabinet in 2006, he worked as a national manager for the UNDP biodiversity project in the UNESCO natural world heritage site of the archipelago of Socotra and as a vice chairman of the board of the Yemeni Islands Development Authority.
For many years he was a vocal advocate for environmental and water resources protection and sustainable community-based development. As a young graduate, he worked for many years as an agricultural researcher in the field of range and livestock.
Mr. Al-Eryani received his MSc. in animal sciences from Colorado State University, Colorado, USA and his BSc. in agricultural science from American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon.
